Newpoint WwTW

This Shared Waters Enhancement & Loughs Legacy (SWELL) Project was funded by the EU INTERREG VA Programme to address wastewater assets considered to have the greatest potential to improve water quality within the Carlingford Lough and Lough Foyle drainage catchments.

This project delivered by Graham Construction Enisca JV delivered capital maintenance and also scoping and investigative works for future planned works.

Enisca Ltd in consortium with civils partner Graham Construction was engaged by NIW for the scoping, design, provision, installation, testing and commissioning of all mechanical, electrical, control, automation, monitoring, telemetry / SCADA equipment, and the associated ancillary civil engineering works necessary for the successful completion of the upgrade works at Newpoint WwPS including commissioning, testing and training.

Newpoint Wastewater Pumping Station comprises of wastewater & storm pumps and stormwater retention tanks within a confined site, situated off the Warrenpoint Road. Flows are pumped from the Station to Newry Wastewater Treatment Works.

Enisca was engaged for provision of the scoping, design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning of all mechanical, electrical, control, automation, monitoring and telemetry / SCADA equipment. Early contractor involvement included meeting NIW Asset Management and Operational teams to develop/confirm the scope, optioneer solutions and identify efficiencies.

  • Removal & disposal of existing storm screens replacing with 2 No. 6mm mechanical escalator Overflow Screens
  • 2 No new screenings WAP conditioning units
  • 40mm one dimensional coarse inlet screen
  • Penstocks, flooring & handrailing on new screen channel
  • Access platforming and lifting davits to new screen motors and inspection points
  • New Motrol MCC and screen & screening conditioning units LCPs
  • Motrol Common MCC providing all necessary supplies to the proprietary local control
  • Instrumentation for a fully automated inlet works c/w all necessary medium, high and critical alarms.
  • Systems integration, electrical, control, automation, monitoring, telemetry / SCADA equipment works including update to new HMI/SCADA mimics
  • Installation & testing of all electrical works including storm tank, street lighting, task & access lighting and earth electrode.
  • Installation & testing of new 1.5MVA Transformer
